Shawn Crosier and Stan Crews have put together a class on the history of the church.
The goal of this class is to explore the beginning of the early church as described in the book of Acts.
- Weeks 1–3: We will examine the church in Jerusalem, including the events of Pentecost, and compare the early church to our church today.
- Following Weeks: We will identify churches that Paul started during his three trips into Turkey and beyond. For each church, we will explore the issues they faced and discuss what we can learn as a church today.
The first 6–8 weeks will focus on the book of Acts. After that, the class will cover:
- The time of Constantine and how the church became an institution.
- The development of the Catholic Church.
- Events leading to the Reformation and the various denominational break-offs.
- The development of the Baptist denomination.
- The start of FBC Scottsdale in 1912.
Join us as we journey through the rich history of the church and discover its relevance for us today!
