Brad Mannix will be leading the Desert Disciples class, a traditional Sunday School environment focused on prayer, the teachings of Jesus, and building relationships.
Matthew wanted to show how Jesus is the continuation and fulfillment of the whole biblical story of God and Israel, so he emphasizes that:
- Jesus is the Messiah from the line of David
- Jesus is a new, authoritative teacher like Moses
- Jesus is God with us, or in Hebrew, Immanuel
The key themes include God’s blessing to Israel and the nations, God’s closeness to His people, and hope for life within the messianic Kingdom of God.
