EVENT INFO

PALM SUNDAY

   4/2/2023
   10:30am
The Bowl (Grassy Area Behind the Sanctuary)

"The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, 'Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!'" - Matthew 21:9

Our worship service will be in the bowl on April 2nd as we commemorate Palm Sunday. This is the event where Jesus reenters Jerusalem for the final time and is worshiped by the crowd shouting "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!". Join us as we prepare our hearts for the events to follow in Holy Week including Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday. Following the service we will have a church potluck along with some activities including a Palm Sunday craft, and soccer. This is a time for us to worship together as Christ-followers and continue our worship as we build relationships with others and encourage one another.

Sign-ups for the potluck portion will be in the foyer of the sanctuary two weeks leading into Palm Sunday!

MAUNDY THURSDAY

   4/6/2023
   6:30pm
   In the Sanctuary

"Jesus answered, 'Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.'" - John 13:8b

This service commemorates the Last Supper that Jesus shared with His disciples. As Jesus shared this last supper with them He knew that His time to return to the Father was close. During the last supper, Jesus humbled himself before God and man and washed the disciples feet. During this Maundy Thursday Service, in addition to prayer, music, and communion elements, you will also have the opportunity to take part in foot washing.

The purpose of this is to help us to understand what it is to humble ourselves before Christ who can wash us white as snow and then, in turn, humble ourselves before men and wash another's feet. Christ lived as the perfect representation of God in the form of man that we may have the humility and courage to follow in his footsteps.

May God work in our hearts and minds this Easter season as we seek to follow Jesus even when it requires parts of our hearts and egos to die. The more we die to ourselves, the more Christ's life can inject purpose and true life into us.

GOOD FRIDAY: JOURNEY TO THE CROSS

   4/7/2023
   6:30-7:30pm
   In the Sanctuary

"[Jesus] knelt down and prayed, 'Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.'" - Luke 22:41b-42

Throughout Jesus' life He remained focused on following the Father's will for Him. Jesus knew that God's purpose for sending Jesus was to redeem humanity through conquering death. As Jesus' final hours drew near, He prayed to the Father, "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." This is the greatest act of trust and selfless love in history. Christ loved you so much that he was mocked, tortured, flogged, and crucified so that you and I would have the opportunity to know God and pursue a relationship with Him in spite of our sin. "God made [Jesus] who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." - 2 Corinthians 5:21.

This Good Friday walk-through experience is an opportunity for you to reflect on the selfless and unconditional love Christ displayed for you the night of his crucifixion. This is an open-house style walk-through so come between 6:30 and 7:30pm to reflect on and pray through this humbling, yet faith-inspiring experience. We will provide a guided reading and prayer for each station, but we encourage you to share your heart with God throughout the experience. Allow His unconditional love for you to awaken your heart to live for him. "We love because He first loved us." - 1 John 4:19
