It's been a bit since wear blue: run to remember was in Arizona! After almost two years of canceled races, they are returning to the Rock-n-Roll Arizona Half Marathon on Sunday, January 16, with their signature remembrance wear blue Mile – along 64th Street, between Thomas and McDowell Roads. The wear blue Mile features signs honoring and commemorating fallen service men and women.
FBCScottsdale participated in 2020 with a strong showing of volunteers. As one of those volunteers, it was powerful to see the faces and names of those veterans as well as meet other volunteers and hear their stories. The most impactful part was seeing the reaction of the runners as they ran past these signs and through the flags along 64th Street. It was a good day to give God thanks for many things.
We are invited to participate again for this year’s race. Each volunteer will be presented with the name of a hero to honor, as we inspire thousands of athletes moving through the wear blue Mile. Register here to join this special day:
Volunteers will meet on Sunday, January 16, 6 am, at the Elks Lodge (6398 E Oak St, Scottsdale, AZ); roads close early that day so get there by 5:30a. We concluded around 11a. I will be running the half marathon this year, but I look forward to running through the Mile. Please register to take part in this powerful event.
