Chaneni House received an award from Banner Behavioral Hospital in April. Here is their write up:
NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK
APRIL 17-23, 2022
National Volunteer Week is Sunday, April 17 through Saturday, April 23 and we would like to recognize Jan, Delilah and Bethany of Chaneni House. These awesome volunteers have been filling clothing orders for our patients for more than two years. When BBHH could not continue with keeping a clothing supply, former Chaplain Carrie began communication with a local church, First Baptist Church of Scottsdale, who has Chaneni House on their campus. Chaneni is Hebrew for “God is Gracious”. Chaneni House relies on donations of clothing, food and monetary gifts to serve the community. It is located at 3315 N. 70th St, Scottsdale, AZ 85251.
Chaneni has been in existence as a 501C3 since March 2010 and serves the neighborhood as well as other organizations like Scottsdale School District, Paiute Neighborhood Center and local refugee groups. Jan and Delilah are our main dedicated volunteers filling orders and driving them to our front lobby usually within hours of the order being sent, 7 days a week. Sometimes patients come to our hospital with only scrubs on with no other clothing. All donations are carefully selected with care and love. We also would like to thank Chaplain Carrie for finding this alternative resource to serve our patients while they are at BBHH and for CM Laura Langston, CM Stephanie Yamboa, Chaplain Ryan Hablitzel and UM Lyn Gerdis in coordinating efforts in getting orders to these great volunteers. Please contact Lyn Gerdis if you have additional questions about Chaneni House or the process for the clothing orders for patients.
